Gary William Aldcorn (born March 7, 1935) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger who played 226 games in the National Hockey League for the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, and Toronto Maple Leafs between 1956 and 1961. Over his NHL career, Aldcorn scored 41 regular-season goals and was a line mate of 'Mr Hockey' Gordie Howe. Internationally Aldcorn played for the Canadian national team at the 1965 World Championships.
Prior to his career in the NHL, Aldcorn won the 1954 Allan Cup national senior ice hockey championship as a member of the Winnipeg Maroons, then won the 1955 Memorial Cup national junior ice hockey championship as a member of the Toronto Marlboros.
Gary was Coach of Canada's National Hockey team through the late 1960's after playing for the national team in 1965.
Gary started with Hockey Canada in 1968 and conceived, wrote and implemented the Natiional Coaching Certification program deployed across Canada. This program provided the basis for all training, qualification and certification across all levels of hockey coaches.
This program further became the basis for coaching certification across all amatuer spots in Canada.

The Manitoba Junior All-Stars won the 1955 Western Junior ‘A’ Lacrosse Championship, defeated the defending Minto Cup champions, Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant Indians, in a best-of-three series two games to one. Manitoba won the first game by a slim 9 to 8 margin, but the B.C. squad rebounded with a convincing 13 to 7 victory in game two. The All-Stars rebounded to win the deciding game 11 to 9 and advance to the Minto Cup final against the Long Branch Monarchs from Ontario.

Gary Aldcorn moved to Winnipeg at the age of twelve and played every sport he could find including hockey, baseball, basketball, track & field, football, curling and lacrosse. Gary Aldcorn was part of two MB All-Star lacrosse teams that competed in the finals of the Minto Cup in 1954 and ’55. After playing his juvenile and junior hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs, Aldcorn won a Memorial Cup with the Toronto Marlboros in 1955 and an Edinburgh Trophy as minor-pro champs with the Winnipeg Warriors in 1956. Gary is one of only 2 individuals that played in the Memorial Cup and Minto Cup in the same year.
He played over 200 NHL games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins from 1956 to ’61 and parts of 3 seasons in the AHL with the Rochester Americans. He was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997.
